CONNECTI
GROUP PROJECT
An interactive tile that would reshape Inner City Brisbane with a 2030 vision.
12 WEEKS
THE PROBLEM
Brisbane’s Metropolitan population is set to rise to 3,326,533 by the year 2036. Even with Brisbane's current population, there is a significant mobility issue in the CBD area. This has impacted other systems and causes congestion. This congestion causes unbearable travel times. The Brisbane CBD generates about $27 Billion annually. This revenue requires the ability for pedestrians to move within the area without issue.
THE SOLUTION
Our team developed the ConnecTi tile. It is an interactive tile that changes the street scape. The purpose of the tile is to direct people within the city, making the space easier to navigate and more enjoyable to use. These tiles can be located anywhere, on the footpath, on storefronts, furniture etc.
These tiles use solar power and kinetic energy to raise tiles to create seating, pathways, advertising etc., around the city to guide people on their way. These tiles are an innovative way to collect energy and create a more interactive and inviting cityscape.

PROJECT REFLECTION
This project was really interesting. There was a key focus on team work and each team member having their role to play. The exploration of futuristic technologies and shaping the transport system was very insightful. We presented our final design to Bombardier in Brisbane, which was a really unique experience as it was the first time we pitched our ideas to industry professionals.
